Police interaction rules

Give PD Real Roleplay

Reference
  • Stay in character from the moment you're pulled over, questioned, or approached. Do not go silent, do not go OOC, and do not treat the officer like a game mechanic.
  • Engage with the scene. Answer questions, react to what the officer says, ask for clarification, argue your side, comply, or refuse in-character.
  • Follow lawful commands the way your character actually would. If your character would sit on the curb, sit on the curb. If your character would run, run. Base the choice on the story, not on the outcome you want.
  • Let scenes breathe. Do not rush a stop, an arrest, or a pursuit to get back to what you were doing.

Roleplay Scenes Out to Their Conclusion

Reference

You are expected to see each scene through in character rather than escaping via disconnect, F8, or bad-faith excuses.

  • Play out the arrest. Booking, questioning, transport, and holding are all part of the scene.
  • Serve your time in character. Prison RP, community service, and probation are opportunities for storyline, not obstacles to skip.
  • If your character is charged, prepare for trial. Cases can and should be taken to court where the story calls for it. Work with your legal counsel, gather evidence, and roleplay the case out.
  • Losing a case is not losing the game. A conviction is a story hook, not a rules failure.

Escalation and Use of Force

Reference

Escalating to lethal force against PD requires real, in-character justification.

  • No shooting PD unless they escalate with lethal force. If PD has not drawn on you or a member of your group in a way that credibly threatens your character's life, you may not open fire on them.
  • No shooting PD during traffic stops. If you shoot an officer during a traffic stop with no prior lethal escalation and no valid RP behind it, it will be treated as RDM.
  • Valid RP must exist before escalation. You need a scene, a build-up, and clear in-character reasons for any hostile action against police. Random or unearned violence toward PD will be actioned.

Cop Baiting

Reference
  • No cop baiting or provoking without RP intent. Driving reckless in front of officers, taunting them, or setting up scenes just to force pursuits without any storyline behind it is a violation.
  • PD scenes must remain realistic and controlled. Every action you take should be something your character would credibly do, and every reaction from PD should be able to play out fully.

Do Not Interfere in PD Scenes

  • No interfering in PD scenes without RP involvement. You cannot roll up on a stop, an arrest, or a pursuit that has nothing to do with your character just to add chaos or “help” one side.
  • Family, friends, and gang ties still require valid RP. If you were not part of the build-up, you do not get to plug into the ending.

F8 and PD

Force-quitting on an active PD scene is combat logging. The punishments below are automatic and non-negotiable:

  • F8 on PD (1st offense)2-day ban + pocket wipe
  • F8 on PD (2nd offense)Character kill (CK)
  • RDM against PD2-day ban
Warning: F8'ing on an active PD scene is combat logging. First offense is a 2-day ban and a pocket wipe. A second offense is a CK on the character involved. RDM against PD is a 2-day ban on top of any additional punishment for the scene.

Government Property

Reference

Government property is off-limits outside of extremely narrow, staff-approved circumstances:

  1. No stealing PD or EMS vehicles.
  2. No stealing PD or EMS equipment, including firearms, radios, tasers, medical bags, and body armor.
  3. Any exception must be pre-approved by staff with a clear, story-driven reason. “It would be cool” is not a reason.
Tip: Every PD scene is someone's shift, someone's storyline, and someone's time. Give them the respect, roleplay, and follow-through you would expect if the roles were reversed.

Medical roleplay standards

Calling for EMS

Reference

When your character needs medical attention, use /911 in-game or press G to open the emergency call menu. Provide a clear, in-character description of what happened, where you are, and the injuries you're currently roleplaying. Vague or joke calls waste EMS time and are not permitted.

Note: Only call EMS when your character genuinely needs medical attention. If you are stuck or bugged with no medical scene attached, contact staff instead of tying up a working medic.

Give EMS Real Roleplay

Reference

EMS players are here to run scenes with you, not to be a respawn button.

  • Stay in character from the moment the sirens arrive. Do not stand up, walk off, or start typing OOC as soon as you're revived.
  • Describe your injuries. Tell the medic where you were hit, what you can feel, what hurts, and what you cannot move.
  • React to treatment. Wince when they set a bone, groan when they clean a wound, thank them, cry, curse, or go quiet.
  • Follow their instructions. If a medic tells your character to sit still, stay in the ambulance, or come to Pillbox, your character listens the same way they would in real life.
  • Do not rush the scene. Let the medic run their checks, ask their questions, and complete their treatment before you try to leave.

Injury Roleplay

Reference

Being downed is not a reset button. Once you take damage that would realistically injure a person, you are expected to roleplay that injury for the rest of the scene, and often beyond it.

  • Gunshot wounds, stabbings, broken bones, and burns must be carried in RP. A limp, a favored arm, slurred speech, coughing, or trouble breathing are all appropriate depending on the injury.
  • Injuries do not vanish the second EMS finishes treatment. A character discharged from Pillbox after a shooting should still be in visible recovery: bandages, a sling, a cane, reduced activity, or restricted work duties for a realistic window.
  • Do not power through injuries to keep fighting or running. Pushing through a serious wound with no roleplay effect is powergaming and will be treated as a rules violation.
  • Communicate the severity honestly. If your character was shot four times in the chest, do not treat it like a scraped knee. If your character was grazed, do not treat it like a coma.

Surgery and Hospital Scenes

  • Surgery scenes should be roleplayed in full, from intake and prep, through the operation, to recovery. Do not skip straight to “I'm out.”
  • Anesthesia, medication, and post-op grogginess are part of the scene. Your character should not walk out of a chest surgery ready to run a heist.
  • Follow discharge instructions in character. If the doctor says “no driving for a week” or “check back in for follow-up,” respect it in your roleplay.
  • Repeat, high-risk behavior after major treatment should carry real IC consequences, up to and including refused service if it becomes a pattern.

Pregnancy Roleplay

Reference

Pregnancy is a serious, long-form roleplay arc, not a punchline or a status update.

  • Pregnancy RP must be realistic. Trimesters, appointments, symptoms, restrictions, and recovery after birth should all be reflected in how the character behaves.
  • Schedule prenatal and delivery appointments through the EMS Discord. Do not surprise on-duty medics with a full labor scene mid-shift; use the EMS scheduling channel so a medic can be prepared and available.
  • Do not “abuse” pregnancy RP. That includes on-and-off pregnancies with no arc, week-long pregnancies, birthing in the middle of a shootout for shock value, or using pregnancy as a shield against IC consequences.
  • Fathers, partners, and family should be involved in RP too. A well-run pregnancy arc pulls in more than one character.
  • After delivery, continue the roleplay. Recovery, feeding, sleep loss, appointments, and the realities of a new baby should all show up in your character's day-to-day.

Respect for EMS

Reference
  • Do not insult, belittle, mock, or berate EMS players during or after a scene. In-character frustration is fine when it fits the story; OOC toxicity is not.
  • Do not refuse treatment just to grief a medic. If your character genuinely would refuse care, roleplay the refusal in a respectful, story-driven way.
  • Do not attack, rob, or set up EMS players on active calls. Medics on duty are treated as neutral responders. Assaulting an on-duty medic without heavy IC justification is a serious violation.
  • Do not backseat medics. If you have a genuine concern about how a scene was handled, take it to staff or the EMS command team, not to the medic mid-shift.
  • Say thank you. A single line of gratitude at the end of a scene goes a long way and keeps our medics wanting to log in.
Warning: Disrespecting, harassing, or repeatedly griefing EMS players is treated as a serious offense on Love Story RP and can result in escalating punishment, up to and including a ban.
